overview

The Nidecker Thruster is an all-mountain carving machine that will have you riding at Mach 10 in no time. Boasting full camber between the feet, you won’t be lacking in edge hold or snap with this deck. Combined with Nidecker’s lightest core and sintered N-9000 base, this board loves speed.

The flex on this board is just a bit stiffer than your average deck, giving you stability while also keeping the Thruster approachable and mellow when you want to ride a bit more laid back.

Another key feature of the Thruster is how damp it is. The Absorbnid top sheet helps absorb and dampen vibrations in conjunction with the Triax glass and premium sandwich construction. This reduces foot fatigue and helps you ride longer and harder.

Additionally, the Thruster comes with 3D shaping in the nose for smoother turn initiation and float in powder. The Thruster is a great option for intermediate and up riders looking for an approachable yet performance-focused resort carver. This board is for those who want to ride fast and precise but still boost side hits and plow through pow on deep days.

profile

  • SideKick technology at the nose lifts the Thruster's edges up off the snows surface for easier float in powder, smoother riding in variable terrain, and effortless turn initiation.

  • The N-9000 sintered base is made of a super-dense material with a high carbon content that minimizes friction and absorbs wax.

  • 2 x 4 Insert Pattern

  • Around an 8 meter sidecut for long drawn out carves.

  • Light Core—Nidecker's lightest core is composed of three types of wood, including featherweight paulownia and responsive poplar. Hardwood beech stringers run down the center and increase the overall strength & pop.

  • Premium Sandwich-Added carbon stringers for more pop, quicker edge response & improved dampening.

Triax Plus-Fiberglass is woven in three directions at 45° for greatert stiffness. Triax Plus uses different glass densities above & below the core to deliver more consistent torsional flex, improved pop, and quick response.

Pop Carbon-Carbon fiber positioned between the inserts & the nose and tail – boosting ollie power & dampening vibrations.

  • Absorbnid-A top layer that absorbs unwanted vibrations. Reducing fatigue and chatter.

  • Matte Finish- A tactile topsheet graphic.

Translucent Color- A 3-dimensional graphic using less ink to reveal the construction below.

Overprint-layered topsheet artwork that adds depth & texture to the graphic.

rider review

I was stoked out on the 2024/2025 Nidecker Thruster when I rode it back in February. Blew my expectations away. The edge hold was solid; I could lay a trench and spring right into the next turn. The camber profile was lively and got me in the air easily off side hits and rollers. Yet the board was not overwhelming by any means, maybe slightly stiffer than middle of the road, but still very approachable. A good amount of torsional flex was present, which helped to foot steer in and out of carves as well.

The Thruster felt very stable on groomers, which gave it an “all gas - no brakes” energy, living up to its name as a “thruster” strapped to your feet. Off-piste, it got bucked around a bit in choppy terrain, so I had to slow down a little there, but it got me back to the main run, and we were off again.

The 3D shaping in the nose made turn initiations smooth and made the ride feel “flowy” with smooth transitions from edge to edge. I wasn’t able to test the Thruster in powder, unfortunately, but I can imagine that big shovel nose floating with ease. The “no speed limit” feel on groomers, though, was addictive and even had me spraying some skiers chilling on a roller, whether I wanted to or not.

The Nidecker Thruster is for intermediate riders and up who want speed, pop, and to lay trenches everywhere they go. When carving trenches, the Thruster delivers both long, drawn-out carves and tighter turns. It is more directional, so not ideal for all-mountain freestyle, but a solid choice for more all-mountain freeride and carving. Overall, it is a capable yet approachable carver that can smash powder when needed.
