Marc Frank Montoya(mfm), where is he now?

MFM! Or Marc Frank Montoya a snowboarding legend that started his snowboarding career in Denver, Colorado, in the mid-90s. MFM got into snowboarding in Summit County, CO, after being an avid urban skateboarder and needing a way to ride in the winter. His style quickly became noticeable with his smooth no-grab airs, massive 720s, rail prowess, shifty’s, flat ground tricks, and unapologetic skier sprays. He was also the first Mexican-American pro snowboarder to make it big in the industry.

Warning early 2000s flashbacks may occur!

For more of MFM’s riding, as shown above, check out his full video part from OPTIMISTIC? by Absinthe Films posted by KING SNOWboard on YouTube.

Early on, he moved to Salt Lake City, UT, where his career gained serious momentum. He starred in classic snowboard film productions such as Kingpin Productions’ 2002 release Happy Hour, Back in Black by Kingpin Productions in 2003, Burning Bridges by KidsKnow Pictures in 2005, Absinthe’s Optimistic? from 2007, and Hard to Earn by Technine in 2009 with Finger on Da Trigger. I strongly urge you to check out his snowboard film parts if you haven’t already, as talking about them just isn’t the same as seeing them unfold in front of you.

In his video parts, you quickly see MFM’s irreverent attitude and style. He was always willing to send it big and never seemed to be phased by the challenges in front of him. This stoked out the snowboard community as snowboarders felt inspired to unapologetically “go for it” like MFM did. Whether it was on rails, in the backcountry, or in life, they were pumped to conquer the world and not feel bad about it!

MFM lived the dream and rode the professional snowboarders’ career wave for almost two decades. He even ventured into the world of DJing and rapping; you can see a glimpse of this in his video part from Back in Black, clipped below. But over time, MFM realized his snowboard career wouldn’t last forever. He loved the freedom and independence snowboarding gave him and he didn’t want that to end when his career did.

The idea of building “his own dreams” and not “someone else’s” became a big theme for him as he started pursuing knowledge on how to grow true personal wealth and freedom, beyond the realm of snowboarding. His goal was to no longer be a “slave” to a system or job. He wanted to have more time with his family and live his “true life” through genuine financial freedom.

After years of study, hard work, and doing “whatever it takes," MFM achieved his dream. His studies and hard work gave him various sources of passive income and therefore time. Producing the overall ability for him to live the life he chooses.

He now “works” as a motivational speaker and self-help guru, spreading his advice and knowledge on how to obtain financial freedom to others. His journey was also a big inspiration for the birth of Slash Board Shop. His journey helped to provide the “go for it” attitude needed to get this site up and running. To learn more about MFM’s story from the man himself, check his self-written bio on his website here. From his site you can find more info on his financial freedom advice, journey, and strategies. You can also hear more about MFM from part 1 of his interview on YouTube from Stonies Buds with E-Stone and Tina Basich.

Nowadays, he spends his time however he likes, but it usually involves surfing, business endeavors, and spending quality time with his family. From the streets of Denver to mountain peaks and then to a successful entrepreneur, MFM has had quite an interesting journey through life. Yet, however you look at it, at any point in time, it’s easy to find inspiration from his approach to whatever he does. An aggressive, unapologetic, yet sincere and passionate approach that inspires those around him to achieve their dreams as well.

So, where is MFM now? Exactly where he wants to be!
