Overview

The incredibly popular Bataleon Evil Twin is the perfect snowboard for park and all-around freestyle riding. The Evil Twin comes in at a mid-flex, making it versatile for jibbing and jumping. Its true twin shape with a slightly softer nose and tail keeps it playful and switch-ready for laps in the park. This board also comes equipped with Bataleons Central Super Tube, adding pop and snap without increasing torsional rigidity. Urethane Shock Walls dampen the ride and absorb shock to help reduce felt impact and chatter.

The Evil Twin also comes with Bataleon’s renowned 3BT & Sidekick Technology. Adding a medium-level rise to the contact points at the nose and tail makes the board more playful and forgiving, perfect for butters and presses. The Triple Base Technology (3BT) also adds to the board's versatility for improved float in powder, smooth carving transitions, and more natural glide over varied snow surfaces.

This snowboard is geared towards intermediate and up park & freestyle riders looking for a fun, dynamic, and responsive yet playful ride.

profile

3Bt & Sidekick

  • 3BT - Triple Base Technology makes for a 3D snowboarding experience like no other.

Sidekick -The gradual side base (medium)uplift in the nose & tail makes the board more forgiving & playful on snow. Most noticeable is the edge-to-edge performance, allowing for a smooth “roll” between turns, & the uplift generated when riding powder, increasing the board’s overall versatility.

  • Hyper Glide S - Bataleon’s standard sintered base that’s durable & fast.

  • 2x4 Insert Pattern.

  • Ultra Light Core - 70/30 Paulownia & poplar blend that offers excellent strength to weight.

C.S.T. SuperTubes - Central Super Tube, a single Super Tube running down the middle of the board. This enhances pop without stiffening the board torsionally. Awesome for jibbing and snap. Supertubes are hollow carbon cylinders inserted directly into the core. They reinforce the camber, reduce weight & greatly increase pop.

  • Triax Glass - A three-way fiberglass weave that is light, strong & responsive. Used to beef up the flex pattern for a more aggressive board.

Carbon Stringers - Deployed in different areas to fine-tune the feel and response.

  • Shock Walls - Urethane-infused sidewall technology. ShockWalls smooth out your ride by absorbing chatter & are more resistant to impacts.

Rider review

I rode the 2024/2025 Bataleon Evil Twin at Mt. Rose towards the end of the 2024 season and had my expectations exceeded. The mid-flex, combined with the softer nose & tail and Triple Base Tech, made this board very playful and forgiving; it just made me want to press and spin at every opportunity. It had smooth transitions from edge to edge, as well as into side hits and wall rides. In the park, the pop was solid, and jibs were easy to lock in. I also noticed a lot of forgiveness when buttering and pressing, as I never felt like I was gonna catch an unexpected edge.

I was skeptical of the 3BT and Sidekick technology, concerned that general resort riding would be drastically less stable. However, I could still carve and hold an edge when needed. I could feel the board mainly gripping between my feet where the Sidekick was absent; this forced me to keep a more centered stance as when I leaned into the nose or tail, I could feel the edge grip start to let go. Flat-basing felt very catch-free, but once you engaged an edge the camber took over and you were back into a carve. Engaging ollies was also easy and quick. I really enjoyed how smooth this board was in and out of turns and terrain transitions, as the lift at the contact points from the 3BT made transitions over varied snow surfaces less abrupt and more seamless. The 3BT, in general, was more noticeable to me than other 3D-shaping tech, such as the Jones Spoon Tech, which is a bit more subtle. Although I didn’t get to ride this board in powder, I feel it would have an easier time floating due to the 3D shaping.

The biggest “con” for me was how “loose” the nose and tail were. Meaning, if you landed tail heavy, it was easy to wash out. Additionally, if you push hard into the nose or tail on carves, you’ll find the Evil Twins limits at higher speeds and in rougher snow fairly quickly. However, that is the purpose of this board, to have a more “loose” and playful feel so this is not a major issue, but rather the “style” it offers.

I’d recommend this snowboard to strong beginners and up who are looking to ride the park and mainly stick to the small and medium lines. I think this board would be a tad unstable for the big park line, but you could bump up to the Evil Twin Plus for that. It would also work for those looking for an all-mountain freestyle snowboard that is more mellow and relatively powder-friendly. Overall, I had a great time on this snowboard, and it’s perfect as a more playful yet responsive resort ride.
