Overview
The Salomon Assassin is an all-mountain freestyle & park board designed for intermediate riders and up. This is one of the hallmark boards in the industry for freestyle versatility. Making it popular and beloved by many, especially with its more approachable mid-flex and Rock Out Camber (camrock).
The camrock profile offers camber between the feet for edge hold, stability, and pop. With rocker in the nose & tail for playfulness, easy turn initiation/exit, and float in deeper snow. The Quadralizer sidecut allows for all types of carving, from quick, tight turns to long, drawn-out carves. The mid-flex on this board allows for stability when riding at higher speeds and in variable terrain. While also enabling forgiveness and playful energy when in and outside the park.
From the factory, you get beveled edges to help prevent edge catches on snow or jibs. As well as a base tune and wax right out the gate. Lastly, the core-embedded Popster Eco Boosters add liveliness and snap to this deck, making it easy to ollie onto features and boost side hits with ease.

Rider review
I rode the 2024/2025 Salomon Assassin at Mt. Rose and was stoked to ride this board because of all the hype I’ve heard about it. It initially surprised me at how playful it was. The rocker in the nose and tail makes it easy to get in and out of turns, butter, press, and engage quick ollies. I felt this playful feel was mainly due to the mid-flex and the amount of rocker in the nose and tail. With that said, I did feel a bit of flap and chatter at higher speeds and in more varied terrain. But on groomed runs, this was not an issue. I could go fast, ollie, and land with ease. However, with the amount of rocker in the nose and tail, it was possible to lean too heavily into the nose or tail and have it fold or wash out.
Carving felt nimble edge to edge, and although the edge hold felt solid, I didn’t always feel 100% locked in. Especially when riding at higher speeds, in varied terrain, or on icy spots. Once again, I believe this was due to the shorter camber zone and the more mellow flex, which allowed the board to “slip out” a bit when pushed harder. Simply put, you can tear up a groomer, slush, or pow on this board with no problem, but it wouldn’t be my top choice for aggressive freeride (the Assassin Pro would likely fit that bill better).
I also got to take the Assassin into the park and had a great time! I was able to boost jumps, throw spins and grabs, and jib with minimal effort. It felt very “familiar” in the park. A skate-like ollie, reliable pop, no hooky feelings, easy to press, and getting sideways on jibs felt natural. I think this would be a great option for working on progression in the park.
In summary, I think the Assassin is a perfect option for a rider who wants to smash pow in the morning and hit park in the afternoon. This board wants to be ridden with freestyle flair. It is versatile enough to ride piste, trees, and powder. Additionally, with its mellow mid-flex, I’d say that a confident, high-level beginner could invest in this board as they progress into that intermediate range. At the same time, I think an advanced rider could also have a blast on this board if they want something a bit more playful but can still handle a bigger jump line.
