Overview

The Rome Stale Crewzer is Stale Sandbech’s pro-model snowboard. This board is designed to conquer the whole mountain but with a heavy freestyle flair and focus. If you have seen Stale ride then you know what this board is capable of. The Fusion Camber is predominantly camber, giving you pop, edge hold, and stability, with a small amount of rocker in the nose and tails for easier turn initiation, float, and easily accessible ollie power.

The flex of this board is on the stiffer side of medium, delivering better stability for rougher terrain, high speeds, and big landings. Although this board has a slightly longer nose, making it a directional twin, it can be ridden as a true twin due to its symmetrical sidecut and profile.

This board is a top all-mountain freestyle/park deck for strong intermediate riders and up. If you want to hit the big park line, boost jumps, throw spins, and ride fast all over the mountain, then this is the board for you.

Rider review

I rode the 2024/2025 Rome Stale Crewzer at Mt. Rose and had a great time! I felt the 6/10 flex rating by Rome was accurate, just a bit stiffer than middle of the road. I actually thought it felt slightly stiffer than the Rome Ravine, which has a 6/10 flex rating by Rome as well, but that could be due to their different camber profiles. Speaking of camber, I didn’t think the camber on the Stale Crewzer was overwhelming at all, actually the opposite, it felt mellow to me. Even with a more mellow camber, I was still able to get substantial pop out of this board, especially right off the lip of jumps and side hits.

Carving also felt solid, I could hold an edge well for tight or drawn out turns. You might get bucked around a bit at higher speeds in rougher terrain, but overall a fairly stable ride. Although jibbing is doable on this board, with its stiffer flex, it wouldn’t be an ideal choice for a jib-focused rider. It’s more geared towards larger park features where you need that extra stability for landings. Even with this board’s “directional twin” classification, I had no issues riding switch whatsoever on this board.

Spinning, jumping, and just general “sending it” on this deck was where I had the most fun. This snowboard wants to go fast and get rowdy. I did not get to ride this board in powder, but with its mild amount of nose/tail rocker, mellow camber, and slightly longer nose, I think you could get away with it. Especially if you set your stance back towards the tail. My guess is that it would deliver an “average” pow riding performance, nothing amazing, but it could be done.

I’d recommend this board to confident intermediate riders and up who understand edge control and want to step their all-mountain freestyle game up to the next level. Those who are focused on speed and jumps will especially benefit from this snowboard; or if you are just a big fan of Stale Sandbech, then you’ll love this ride!
